Born in London as the sixth child of Louis Diehl, director of the Royal London Orchestra and Alice nee Mangold, published novelist, Arthur Diehl was named for the legendary king. He roamed Europe in his late teens, studied art in Milan under Luigi Stefani, then moved at age 23 to America, eventually settling in Provincetown on Cape Cod in Massachusetts where he painted prolifically, often from memory. Pictures show the exact vintage puzzle and original box you will receive. Minor restorations and one replacement piece.
Also included is the original tissue paper, now browned with age. The two photos above show the puzzle with different backgrounds, one against black art paper, and one with ordinary white printer paper, both taken outdoors in under a northern light. Overall dimensions are 15-1/2" x 24-1/2". There are 750 pieces with 21 figural pieces that include three avian/bird figurals: one feeding chicks in a nest, a one about to land, and one perched on a branch.They also include two mythology figurals: a Mermaid and a Hippocamp; and two Seahorses, one with a top hat.
