New Hand Cut Wooden Japanese 541-piece Jigsaw Puzzle in plywood box
This jigsaw puzzle has been cut by hand from 5-ply Baltic birch ¼ thick plywood. Please note that it has been cut with a fine saw blade, NOT a laser or water-jet. The image is from a 2011 Cavallini calendar, and is of a woodblock painting "Autumn at Saruiwa" by Kawase Hasui. This Cavallini calendar is printed on fine paper embossed with a canvas texture. The puzzle measures 8-1/2" x 13" with 541 pieces including my turtle signature piece which is signed and dated. The other pieces are 3-sided. The puzzle has been cut with a scroll saw using extremely fine blades just. These blades are the thinnest that can in practice be used to cut the dense ¼ plywood.
The combination of thin blade, thick plywood and fully-interlocking pieces results in a puzzle that is very tightly cut, so that when assembled it can be lifted without falling apart. The puzzle is supplied unassembled in a sturdy plywood box with sliding lid. The lid has an inlay of the Turtleteasers logo in a contrasting wood.
This box is made from wood and glue only - no metal nails, screws, hinges or clasps. No picture is supplied, so that traditionalists can work through the solution the hard way!
This puzzle is not recommended for young children, as the small pieces could present a choking hazard. The item "New Hand Cut Wooden Japanese 541-piece Jigsaw Puzzle in plywood box" is in sale since Saturday, April 13, 2019.
